La Atalaya de Santa Brigida – Bandama. Gran Canaria

Guided Visit with a tourist and nature guide.

It’s a very pleasant, original and surprising visit with precise objectives:

  • Knowing about the volcanic origin of the environment of Bandama.
  • Learning about the grape and wine-producing of the “Monte Lentiscal”.
  • Finding out the troglodyte village of the Atalaya.
  • Practising primitive techniques of pottery.

This itinerary is mainly intended for the various collectives, occupational centres, civic centres, culture ministers, cultural associations, of neighbourhood, A.M.P.A, adults clubs, equality centres, and every person interested without any age distinction.

The group will go from 25 to 60 persons.

La guagua nos dejará en el Pico de Bandama, donde tras observar las vistas, hablaremos de la localización, la toponimia, del entorno vitivinícola.

We’ll walk down to the road up to the Bandama’s Cauldron, where we’ll explain the geologic formation and something relevant about history, afterwards we’ll take the bus to go to the Patio of the seven winepresses.

We’ll visit the Patio of the seven winepresses, explaining how they were working, how these winepresses and the various dependences to the space were used. Pause coffee.

The bus will pick us up to go to the troglodyte village of the Atalaya: there , we’ll stop in the square, and we’ll tell about the “exceptional” situation to maintain the aboriginal’s traditions and the reason of the moving of the aboriginal’s population up to that place. We’ll walk up to the Centro Locero, where, after being informed about the techniques and history, we’ll put the hands in the mud: Pottery workshop.

We recommend you to take hiking shoes and a light waterproof jacket.
